How y’all doing? We are a couple of weeks into 2023 and many of us have made resolutions, started fasts and/or have a word for our year. Many years ago, during a women’s conference, I was introduced to the concept of having a word be the focus of your year. I usually pick my word and start living it out on birthday since it is close to the end of the year. This year my word is INTENTIONAL.
The word intentional means to do something on purpose; to be deliberate. I wear so many hats that a lot of times I find myself all over the place. This year I want to be more deliberate, intentional about what I do and ensure that there is God-given purpose behind it. I’m learning that No is a complete sentence not just concerning my time but also my finances. Sometimes that No is to others and sometimes it is to me.
I’m an impulse grocery shopper. It’s a bad habit I inherited from my father. He was a man who never met a grocery store he didn’t like. I could probably feed another family for the next month off what’s in my pantry, freezer, and refrigerators. Yep, I said refrigerators with an “s” …plural. Don’t judge me. I feel you judging me. This year I will be more intentional about what I purchase.
Do you have a word or resolution that you are leaning into this year? If so, what are you doing to ensure you follow through with it? Discussing it with God during your Divine Dates is a good way to keep you focused and on track to achieve your goal. Have you discussed it with Him, or has it just been a conversation in your head with yourself so far? God is waiting to help you be victorious in whatever that thing is.
