Whose Feet Are You Sitting At?

My family and I just returned from a Disney cruise. My son is a huge Disney fan. He knows the songs to every movie and can act out most scenes. He was in awe of every Disney character he met during the cruise. He listened intently as they spoke to him and he felt safe enough to be transparent with them and tell them all about his love for their movie/character.

As I watched his interaction with each princess, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and even Stich, I thought to myself – this is how Jesus wants us to be with Him. To be in awe but at the same time comfortable to share our thoughts and feelings. To not be afraid to approach His throne of grace. To be our real authentic selves while basking in His glory.

The last night of our cruise, our family was one of about six families chosen to have a private meet and greet with all the characters before they did their final farewell show for everyone. I believe we were given this opportunity because of my son’s memorable interactions with the characters he met throughout the week. The picture above shows his interaction with Cinderella at the meet and greet. He is sitting at her feet listening to everything she is saying to him with every fiber of his being. He is so tuned into her that he isn’t paying attention to the commotion around him.

Just as Mary sat at the feet of Jesus soaking up every word in Luke 10:39, lost to the fact that her sister wanted her to help serve, whose feet are you sitting at right now? Who has captured your attention to the point that you notice nothing else around you and you would stay there forever if you could? Jesus wants it to be Him. Spend some time today at the feet of Jesus being in awe of who He is and transparent about who you are.

“And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat a Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” ~Luke 10:39 (NKJV)
